Dick was born in Port Angeles in 1937. He was raised in Forks Washington and graduated from Forks High school in 1957. Dick moved to Renton and went to work at Boeing.
Dick met Crystal Shaughnessy and they were married in October of 1959. Crystal was raised in Sequim and graduated in 1958 from Sequim High School. They lived in Renton for 8 years.
In 1974 Dick took a job with the City of Sequim where he became the Director of Public works. He spent 22 years in that position until retiring in 1995.
Dick and Crystal have two daughters, three grandchildren, they lost one grandchild and they have four great-grandchildren.
