2010 Sequim Arts Juried Art Show

2010 Sequim Arts Juried Art ShowSequim Arts, an organization of over 150 artists living on the Olympic Peninsula, is sponsoring its 34th Annual Fine Arts Exhibit. Entries to this exhibit have come from all over the United States, Canada and Australia in past years.

Festivities began on Wednesday, May 5th with an artist's reception in which over $1,500 in cash and merchandise prizes were awarded.

The awards for this show went to the following:

Best in Show: David McCrae, "Unpacking: Portrait #8", photography, Seattle, WA

Second Place: D. Wynne Nixon, "Hard-Boiled Lemon and Egg Squeezer", oil, Gig Harbor, WA

Third Place: Kipyung Kong, "Mt. Jiri 3-8", Oil, South Korea

The Juror for the 2010 show was Jake Seniuk of the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, where he has curated more than 100 exhibitions by Northwest masters since 1989. As an artist jake creates works that combine photography, text and sculptural elements. Among the places he has been exhibited are the National Gallery of American Art (Washington, D.C.), the Seattle Art Museum, the Yale University Museum, the Princeton University Art Museum, and the International Center for Photography (New York City). He received fellowships from National Endowment for the Arts and Artist Trust, and was awarded the Logan Prize for Critical Writing in Photography. He served as a juror for the state arts commissions of Washington, Idaho and Nevada and for various arts foundations. He taught at Cornish College and the University of Washington. Jake earned his B.A. in Fine Arts from Harvard University and his MFA in Photography from University of Washington.
